1958 CLEVELAND BROWNS – Season Highlights – Rare Sportsfims, Inc. is the rights owner of this DVD Going into the 6 th week of the ’58 season the Browns were 5-0 and no one in the league knew how to
stop Jim Brown – except the Giants. The
Giants’ gang-tackling efforts vs Jimmy Brown became more successful as the
season wore on. New York beat the
Browns in Cleveland and then still needed to beat them again in New York in the
final game on the schedule to force a tie for the Eastern Championship! By winning 13-10 on Pat Summerall’s FG in a
driving snowstorm, the Giants secured a tie and forced Cleveland to return the
following week for a post-season playoff. In that game, they held Jim Brown to only 8 yards rushing and won
10-0. It was a disappointing season for
the Browns, who lost only to the Lions and all three games to the Giants in '58. This rare 44-minute B & W film, presented by Sohio
and Carling Black Label beer, and narrated by the old voice of the Browns, Ken Coleman, is now on DVD! Shown are highlights from every game of the
1959 Browns season except the Redskin game in Washington. You’ll see nice closeups of many of the
Browns during pre-game warm-ups: Starting QB Milt Plum, Lou Groza, Jimmy Brown, Leroy Bolden, Bobby Mitchell, Ray Renfro, Jim Ray
Smith, Walt Michaels, Dave Lloyd, Ken Konz, Galen Fiss, Vince Costello,
Bob Gain, Don Colo, Junior Wren, Bill Quinlan, Bobby Freeman, Mike McCormack,
Darrell Brewster, Walt Michaels, Lew and Preston Carpenter, Willie McClung and
Dick Deschaine. Other Browns shown in
action throughout the film will also bring back nostalgic memories: Jim
Ninowski, Don Paul, Chuck Noll, Don Paul, Warren Lahr, Art Hunter, Paul Wiggin
and Jim Schofner. The
